In 2003, the Nigerian Federal Government secured the procurement of approximately eight fire-fighting trucks. This investigation traced what happened to those trucks — examining procurement records, government accountability failures, and the systemic conditions that allow public resources to disappear without consequence. The piece represents Joel's investigative reporting work during his time at the ICIR in Abuja, where he monitored government accountability and political affairs ahead of Nigeria's 2023 general elections.
